May is coming to a close, and we move deeper into the season, we would like to thank all athletes, coaches, managers, volunteers, officials, and families for the continued energy and support being poured into girls lacrosse across Alberta. The growth of the female game continues to be exciting to watch, and weekends like Girls Rock continue to showcase the competitiveness, development, and community within Fury Lacrosse Association.

Alberta Indigenous Lacrosse Announcement

We are excited to share an important and positive development within lacrosse in Alberta.

The Alberta Lacrosse Association has officially accepted Alberta Indigenous Lacrosse as a member organization. This marks a significant step forward in expanding opportunities and representation for Indigenous athletes within the sport.

As part of this exciting development, an Alberta Indigenous U17 Female Team will be submitted to compete at the Prairie Cup this July.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to:

  • U15 Female Players

  • U17 Female Players

Athletes must hold valid Indigenous or Métis status documentation.

Tryout Information

Date: June 6, 2026

This Prairie Cup initiative will also serve as an important foundation for future Indigenous programming, including long-term athlete development opportunities and the pathway toward participation at the North American Indigenous Games in 2028.

The North American Indigenous Games are one of the largest Indigenous multi-sport events in North America, bringing together thousands of athletes from across provinces, states, and Indigenous nations.

We are excited to continue growing Indigenous representation within lacrosse while creating additional high-level opportunities for female athletes.

Girls Rock Tournament Results

The Girls Rock weekend showcased strong competition, development, and sportsmanship across all Fury divisions. Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and teams for representing Fury Lacrosse Association throughout the tournament weekend.

U17 Division Highlights

Several Fury teams posted strong tournament performances throughout the weekend:

  • Calgary Fury U17 Blue finished with a 3-1 record and a +8 differential.

  • Calgary Fury U17 Purple posted an impressive 3-1 record with a +15 differential.

  • Calgary Fury U17 Black battled to a strong +3 differential through competitive play.

  • Calgary Fury U17 Silver finished even on goal differential while continuing to compete hard throughout the event.

  • Calgary Fury U17 White showed resilience and teamwork through a challenging weekend environment.

The continued growth and competitiveness within the U17 female game continues to be exciting for the future of Fury Lacrosse.

U15 Division Highlights

The U15 division showcased some outstanding performances across the province:

  • Calgary Fury U15 Purple completed an undefeated 4-0 weekend with a +13 differential.

  • Calgary Fury U15 Silver finished with a strong 2-2 record.

  • Calgary Fury U15 Black remained highly competitive throughout the weekend.

  • Calgary Fury U15 White battled hard to a balanced 2-2 finish.

  • Calgary Fury U15 Blue continued to show growth and development against strong competition.

Congratulations to all athletes for continuing to push themselves and support one another throughout the tournament.

U13 Division Highlights

The U13 division continues to demonstrate tremendous growth within female lacrosse:

  • Calgary Fury U13 Silver posted a strong +7 differential.

  • Calgary Fury U13 White continued their strong season with balanced team play.

  • Calgary Fury U13 Black finished with an impressive +10 differential.

  • Multiple Fury U13 teams remained highly competitive in closely contested games throughout the weekend.

The future of the female game remains very bright with the continued development occurring within this age group.

U11 Division Highlights

The U11 division continues to showcase incredible energy, development, and enthusiasm for the sport:

  • Calgary Fury U11 Blue finished with a strong 3-1 record and a +12 differential.

  • Calgary Fury U11 Silver continued to compete hard throughout the weekend.

  • All Fury U11 teams demonstrated growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout Girls Rock.

At this age level, athlete development, confidence, and enjoyment of the game remain key priorities, and our U11 athletes continue to represent Fury exceptionally well.

U9 Division Highlights

Our youngest players show resilience and endless energy. These teams completed their regular scheduled league game, attended photos, participated in an exhibition game during Girls Rock - finishing their evening on the Floor with the Junior Silvertips. 

Affiliate Procedures Reminder

As team schedules, injuries, and spring sports commitments continue throughout the season, we would like to remind all teams and families of the proper affiliate procedures required within Fury Lacrosse Association. This aligns with ALA Regulation 5A

These procedures are in place to:

  • Ensure athlete safety

  • Maintain league compliance

  • Protect roster integrity

  • Support clear communication between teams and families

STEP 1 Head Coach Communication

The requesting Head Coach must contact the affiliate player’s primary team Head Coach.

These communications must also include:

  • Requesting Team Manager

  • Primary Team Manager

This ensures gamesheets remain accurate and compliant with league regulations.

STEP 2 Parent/Guardian Approval

The requesting Head Coach must also contact the affiliate player’s parent or guardian directly.

The following approvals are required in writing for EACH affiliation request:

  • Head Coach approval

  • Parent/Guardian approval

STEP 3 Fury VP Approval

Once approvals are obtained, the request must be submitted for Division VP approval:

U15 / U17 Divisions

Include:

U13 and Below

Include:
Melanie Miskulin – VP Minor
vp2@furylacrosse.ca

If a U13 player is affiliating to U15, BOTH VP representatives must be included in communication and approval.

Important Reminder

Final VP approval must be received PRIOR to the athlete participating.

Any affiliations outside of this process may be considered the use of an illegal player and could result in:

  • Discipline

  • Organizational review

  • Potential game forfeiture
